The calcium is one of the important mineral present in body. It plays important part to strengthen bones anongst many of it’s functions in body. The defeciency of calcium results in loss of bone strength and spontanous fractures. It is said that 1 gram of calcium is the daily requirement for healthy bones. One cup of milk contains 0.3 grams of calcium. It is stressed that females should take this amount (1 gm) of calcium daily so that after menopause they live healthy with stronger bones. Males should also take same amount of calciu daily even though they are relatively protected from spontaneosu fractures compare to females. One can check the strengh of bones by doing a DEXA scan available in reputable labs. At times in Pakistan various drug companies hold camps at shopping malls where one can check the bone calcium level by placing their foot in a specific instrument. The result comes almost immediately.
